Mission and Scope

The Weaving Group is a unique organisation in textiles. It exists to serve the interests of its members and the industries in which they work.

The Weaving Group has corporate and individual members. The membership covers all disciplines in weaving and other associated industries.

Within the weaving and associated industries the aim of The Weaving Group is to facilitate learning and to disseminate information.

In pursuit of this aim The Weaving Group engages in the following activities:

 

  • Organisation of conferences, exhibitions and seminars
  • Organisation of industry study tours
  • Web based links to the latest technological advancements in machinery, raw materials, fabrics etc.
  • Provision of business information
  • Recruitment

If it is technical, topical or innovative, then we can update your knowledge if you are a member of The Weaving Group.

The Weaving Group works closely with weavers, machine makers, universities and other associated industries to update your knowledge. It encourages open discussion, both formal and informal, in the exchange of information at all its events.

In an ever contracting industry, whether weaving the finest natural fibres or synthetics, The Weaving Group is the only organisation to bring us together.

The commitment of The Weaving Group’s Management and Executive committees is to provide the growing membership with excellent service, good value and democratic participation in an organisation that is totally dedicated to textiles and in particular the weaving sector.

 

RULES


1. That this Association shall be called THE WEAVING GROUP.

2. The government of this Association shall consist of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary to be elected at the Annual General Meeting and shall remain in office for two years. Also an Executive Committee of nine persons, three to retire annually after serving three years. All persons will be eligible for re-election at the AGM.

3. Membership of this Association is available to employers as Group Members or to Individual Members in the weaving and other associated industries.

4. Application forms for membership are available from the Secretary. All proposals for membership of this Association must be accompanied by the subscription which is refundable if for any reason the application is not accepted.

5. That the Treasurer will receive members’ subscriptions. The Secretary will notify all members in arrears. The Treasurer to be held responsible for all monies received by him on behalf of this Association.

6. That all members of the Association shall pay the subscription as passed by the Annual General Meeting. This subscription to be paid annually.

7. Any member who allows his subscription to remain unpaid shall not be considered a Member of the Association.

8. That the Secretary will arrange Management and Executive Committee meetings as well as any other necessary meetings to meet the requirements of this Association.

9. That so much of the funds considered by the Management Committee as surplus to requirements shall be used to reduce costs at future events or in any other way as may be thought desirable.

10. That all matters not provided for in these rules shall be left to the discretion of the Committee.
